I knew the story of Jack London's Wolf House long before I ever vitied the
site -- how he built the place to be his dream home, something that would
stand for perpetuity, and how its wooden portions burned down says before
London and his wife, Charmian, were to move into it. No one knows how the
fire happened, but London was never able to rebuild the house before his
death. But knowing all that didn't prepare me for how lovely the stone
skeleton is, and how eerie it is to see this majestic structure which has
gone completely uninhabited since its construction.
