Hanson: The name alone is enough to evoke squeals from young girls. A mania has swept the nation, surrounding a trio of boys so squeaky-clean, genuine and unfabricated (unlike the Spice Girls or the Backstreet Boys) it's a wonder they're making it through the music industry alive.
The Hanson boys have decided to follow two highly successful releases -- their major-label debut, "Middle of Nowhere,'' and the rerelease of their indie debut, "3 Car Garage'' -- with a live album, due in stores Tuesday. On "Live From Albertane,'' their songs are even more bouncy and infectious. Believe it.
Besides the amped-up opener "Gimme Some Lovin' '' and obvious tracks such as "MMMBop'' and "Where's the Love,'' Hanson also treats listeners to rarities like "River'' and the saccharine "More Than Anything'' (which features eldest Hanson Ike on lead vocals). And the stormy "Ever Lonely'' rocks with a newfound intensity.
"Albertane'' is infused with Hanson's natural energy and love of music, and reveals how well these songs translate into a live forum. The only drawback is the incessant background of screaming, hysterical fans. It's a sound Hanson is used to, no doubt.
